Sense and Sensibility (by Jane Austen)

I don't think I'd ever read it all the way through, but Beth inspired me. It's flat-out impossible for me to get the movie characters out of my head. But I think it's a great story, with a somewhat sad, somewhat realistic ending. And it's Jane Austen, so what's not to love? And what can you really say about it? It's one of her best.

It is a wonderful story.

I read it when I was 13, with the result that I have difficulty not responding to the story as I did then: "Colonel Brandon? How can she marry him? He's old. Yeuch. And how could Elinor be so patient? I hate men." Now I can see that there might be slightly more mature ways to read a book...

I had quite a lot of difficulty with the film, actually, partly because I knew the book too well by then. Too many famous faces, also.
